at home – around and about

I went on an early morning walk around the neighborhood with this family, and then back to their house for a little bit of play time outside.
I met this one-year-old a month earlier just before his very first haircut – but glad to see he still  had some of those gorgeous curls!  With that hair, that grin, and those blue twinkly eyes, he’s a little charmer already.

Here’s a look as we played in fountain, on a slide, with the dog, and attempted to feed a goose!

a one-year old visitor!

Oh my goodness – this fall has been so crazy busy, I have completely neglected posting in favor of getting as many sessions/holiday cards out (and as quickly as possible) as I could!
Time for a little catch up!

My cousin and her husband traveled all the way from the next state over so that I could meet and photograph their little girl for her first birthday!  And I’m glad they did – she was sooo sweet!  And she looks like my family – brought back some memories of my Grandmother’s house.   I was past due for an introduction.

They drove over on Saturday afternoon and had planned to go straight to their hotel and buckle down for the night, and meet me Sunday morning for photos.  But the forecast – which had originally predicted rain Saturday and sun Sunday, and pulled a switcharoo, and I was afraid they would have have come all that way for a rainy day, so despite them not considering themselves ready, I talked them into meeting me as they drove into town just before sunset.  And so glad we did!

We got so many big smiles and sweet looks fro Miss L at twilight time.  The next morning we did have some drizzle, but braved it all the same and read some baby Jane Austen.  Then we tried a cupcake, which, not unlike Mr. Darcy, was met with some mild curiosity and then no great affection.

Love this post!!!

view from a long summer

If these pictures look like summer, it’s because September is still summer around here.

We took these so early in the morning, and all of us adults were still sweating!

But we had a fun and pretty get together at this neighborhood lake.  We had a Grandmother in town, one of my favorite photo-family dogs, and some family wedding outfits to remember before they were outgrown!

sunset in May

I’m posting a little flashback to some personal photos from the spring…   My nieces had each recently had a birthday, turning 8 and 3, so it seemed a good enough reason for a few updated photos.  Baby brother here was 8 months old and sitting up (most of the time), another reason for pictures.  🙂

They were running a wee bit late coming into town (a couple of hours I think),  and the location I had intended to use being landscaped, so we ran to the nearest green space before sunset and had to make do.  The oldest immediately kicked off her shoes and ran around in the big open space until her once perfectly brushed hair was wind-blown and tangled, and once the 3-year-old realized her sissy’s shoes were off, her’s had to come off, too.

The last 2 images here are when I let the girls pose themselves.  Letting them come up with their own ideas can get them more excited about being there, and sometimes you get some favorite pictures – even if they do look silly, it’s them being them.  🙂
