having a little fun with it

I was thinking of all my friends and family in New York, DC, Maryland and Virginia during the storm last night.  This morning it looks like they’ve all weathered Sandy, most even with their power in tact, and I’m glad to hear it.  I’m also glad that I was traveling in DC and Virginia last weekend and not this past one.  We had such beautiful weather!  I’m wondering how many of those leaves are left, and thankful I got to see them.

My last post featured a family on grounds of the University of Virginia, but there were a few others with us that day, too.  My fellow UVA friends and always, always gracious Charlottesville hosts, Skate, Rob, and Hans.  We thought, “As long as we’re taking Christmas pictures, why not throw on some festive wear and come out with us?  Have a little photo of your own?”  And what’s great for me, is that I felt free to say things like, “Now give me over the shoulder!  Now play peek-a-boo with the tree!”  And Skate was always game – and Rob at least leaned in awkward positions and craned his neck and looked like, “Over the shoulder?  What?”

Yay, for a fun fall day!

“Sarah and Rob love that precious tree and not only did they get engaged under it, they renew their commitment to each other there each year. Also, Rob is concerned about the Mayan Apocalypse and only wears pants that can be seen from space.”
